A team of volunteers has been working to make the community orchard in Bratton safer and more accessible for visitors.
The small team of orchard volunteers, led by Steve Crosby, recently added posts and rope around the newly created community space at Reeves Orchard, to prevent anybody falling down the slope. They also covered the path with wood chippings to make it less muddy.
These improvements should ensure that people can safely enjoy the multiple events planned for this space.
“The work in the orchard is always physically demanding, but it will be worth it because people will use, and enjoy, this beautiful area,” said volunteer Bryan Parkinson.
Whilst this major phase of work is now complete, there is still more to be done before the area is ready to be used properly for the first time at the wassailing event in January.
