FIRst Westbury Beaver Scouts recently donated four boxes of food to Warminster Food Bank as part of their World Challenge Badge.
Diane Perre, assistant Beaver Scout Leader said, “As part of the badge we have played games from other countries, visited our local fire station, visited our local pond and grown seeds. As the final part we had to work with an organisation to help local people.
“We decided to find out about our local Food Bank, what they do and who they help. We were lucky to have Margaret from the Warminster Food Bank come and talk to us. She brought a box of food for one for a week and we were all surprised how much could be packed into one box.
“She told us about how many people they had helped over the last year and helped us to realise how lucky we are to have enough to eat. The Beavers were surprised how many children in our area didn’t always have food to eat every day.
“After Margaret left we decided that we would like to use the lists she left of urgently needed foods to make a collection to donate. Lots of the Beavers used the list to go shopping with their parents and pick the foods they would like to eat to donate. We were proud to be able to donate over four boxes of food.
“If anyone else would like to help, please drop donations of at Crosspoint, in the Market Place, Westbury. All donations need to have a dateline of at least six months please. Any questions then please get in touch by e-mail or phone. 01373 823995.”
