EXCITING times lie ahead for Matravers after the school received £1million from Wiltshire Council to make significant improvements to the site.
The next phase of the school’s Priority School Building Programme will begin this summer with windows and glazing in the main school building being replaced; resurfacing of the tennis courts to an astro-turf facility being undertaken; and work starting on a three-storey classroom block.
Headteacher Dr Riding commented, “We are delighted to announce the next phase of site development to realise our vision to deliver world class facilities to our school and wider community.
“We are delighted that Matravers School is finally receiving the type of investment that our community deserves. Our students work extremely hard and are exceptionally proud of their school. These significant improvements to our facilities across many subject areas will enable us to deliver our bespoke, traditional and high-quality provision.”
The school has already begun updating the site and improving the buildings. Earlier this year, a state-of-the-art cycle storage facility with an outdoor seating area was built.
The school has also recently welcomed its own West Wiltshire Table Tennis league to be based at the school, providing wider community access and participation in sports. Lighting in the sports centre will be upgraded to provide national and international quality provision to support this.
