SIX-year-old Alfie Waker has completed his sponsored bike ride – and raised over £500 for HorseWorld.
Despite the miserable weather on Sunday 12th June, Alfie went ahead with his challenge, cycling the 10 miles from Devizes to Bradford-on-Avon along the tow path.
Alfie Waker was inspired to help HorseWorld, which is a charity for horses, ponies, and donkeys, after a much- loved Wadsworth dray horse, Tom, was sent there for his retirement.
Alfie was invited to start his challenge with a visit to the Wadsworth stables, where he was presented with a horseshoe as a good luck gift.
Dad Martin Waker said, “It went really really well, and we’re so pleased with him. The weather was horrendous – the worst day we could have picked – but everything was planned and booked so we went ahead. And despite the weather he was excited the whole time and really enjoyed it – he just kept smiling.
“We went up to the stables and saw the horses and they gave him a horseshoe all made up in a gift box as a good luck gift.
“He’s raised £504 so far, and people have said they’re still going to donate. The amount of support is quite incredible
“Hayley and I are very proud of him, and a big thank you to Wadsworth Brewery, especially Trisha who arranged the stable visit, which made his day very special.”
