PEOPLE in Westbury turned out in their hundreds on Remembrance Sunday to honour those who have lost their lives and suffered injuries in conflict.

The annual parade gathered at the Warminster Road car park and, led by Trowbridge and District Youth Band, marched along Warminster Road, Haynes Road, and into the High Street.
A short service took place at the War Memorial and after the Last Post was performed, all present observed the silence at 11.00am.
Wreaths were then laid by representatives from groups and organisations, including Westbury Town Council, Wiltshire Council, the Royal British Legion, cadet groups, Scouting and Guiding groups, alongside many others.
The Trowbridge and District Youth Band also provided music for the hymns.
Eddie Bridges, president of the Westbury Branch of the Royal British Legion said, “I thought it went very very well. It was a good turnout – it gets bigger every year – and it’s very good of people to come.”
Services were also held elsewhere in the area, including at the War Memorial in Bratton. Tony Hyde, Poppy Appeal Organiser for the village, said, “Our village has just experienced one of the most memorable periods of remembrance. The short service at the War Memorial at 11 o’clock on Friday 11 November, was attended by all the children and staff of Bratton Primary School, as has become their custom in recent years , as well as many village residents
“Residents and members of the Men’s and Women’s Branches of the Legion were joined again this year by a large contingent of the village Rainbows, Brownies and Guides on Remembrance Sunday both at St James’ Church and at the 11 o’clock service at the War Memorial.”
