Issue 507 – Local groups benefit from town council grants

WESTBURY Town Council has presented around £12,000 in grants to good causes in the town and villages.
Every year the council budgets an amount to be distributed to various causes that benefit the local community, and considers applications from local organisations. On Friday 3rd February, grants ranging from £100 to £500 each were awarded to local organisations, as approved by the town council earlier this year.
Westbury Mayor cllr David Windess said, “We had over 50 grants this year, all to very worthwhile causes. They all do good things for the community, and it’s a pleasure and an honour for the council to recognise this.”
The organisations who were awarded grants were: 1st Westbury Scout Group, 68 (Westbury) Squadron Air Training Corps, Age UK Wiltshire, Bath & District Samaritans, Blues & Zuz, Bratton Silver Band, Carers Support West Wilts, Church Street Residents Association, Cygnets Pre-School (Westbury Leigh), Friends of WCR, Group Five, HELP Counselling Services, Kingfisher Pre-School, Leigh Park Community Association, Lions Club of Westbury, Relate Mid Wiltshire, Royal British Legion – Westbury Branch, Sapphire Twirlstars, Sunshine Club, Victim Support Wiltshire, VITALISE, West Wilts Portage Service, West Wilts Special Needs Activity Scheme, West Wilts/Elblag Twinning Association, West Wilts Youth Sailing Association, Westbury & District Choral Society, Westbury & District Cricket Club, Westbury & District French Twinning Association, Westbury & District Link Scheme, Westbury & District U3A, Westbury & Warminster Extended Services, Westbury Amateur Swimming Club, Westbury Art Craft & Natter Group, Westbury Arthritis Self Help Care Group, Westbury BA13 Community Group, Westbury Chamber of Commerce, Westbury First Responders, Westbury United Football Club, Westbury Rugby Club, Westbury (Wilts) Welfare of the Elderly Association, Westbury Youth Football Club, Wiltshire Army Cadet Force, Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust, Wiltshire County Cricket Club, Wiltshire Music Centre, Alzheimers Support, St John Ambulance Brigade, White Horse Day Centre, Warminster & Westbury Talking Newspaper, Wiltshire West District Scout Association
