A SCHOOL uniform pass-it-on event was a great success, with good quality clothes donated and plenty of youngsters being kitted out.
Community group Popcan ran the free event at the Westbury Community Project in Eden Vale Road.
Popcan chair, Sheila Kimmins said, “Popcan’s free school uniform event was very successful. I want to thank everybody who was involved – all the families who came to get their children kitted out. People have not been able to afford uniforms, some because of furlough and redundancies during the pandemic.
“We were able to help, which was great. We need to thank all the people who came to help out and donated good-as-new uniforms, especially Matravers’ uniforms which there was an urgent need for. Families whose children were leaving and going to sixth form donated and it was the end of an era for them. I’d also like to thank the Westbury Community Project because they let us have use their hall.”
Popcan will be holding another free school uniform event at the end of August and Sheila is happy to collect any good-as-new items for donation if needed. Email sheila.kimmins@ westburytowncouncil.gov.uk
