HOLY Trinity Church in Dilton Marsh has lots of events taking place over the festive period- including a Nativity Set Festival which is new to this year’s festive calendar at the church.

The Nativity Set Festival is taking place from Friday 8th December to Sunday 10th December and it will give people the opportunity to have their nativity sets blessed during the Sunday morning service.

The church says, “Bring along your nativity set on the Friday or simply call in to admire all the sets on display over the weekend – there will be refreshments available too!” The festival will take place from 5pm to 6pm on the Friday; 9.30am to 4pm on Saturday and 9.30am to 12pm on the Sunday.

The fun doesn’t stop there as on Sunday 17th December at 10am the church is hosting a scratch nativity service from 9.30am to 10am which will see an entertaining retelling of the Christmas story where everyone gets to take part. Everyone is invited to come along as their favourite nativity character.

There will also be a carol service at the church on Sunday 17th December from 6pm, a Midnight Mass on Sunday 24th December at 11.30pm, a parish communion at 9.30am on Christmas Day and a family service on Sunday 31st December from 9.30am.

As well as this, there are a range of activities taking place to give children the opportunity to meet up – including Tot’s Praise on Friday mornings at 10am. The church says, “This is a fun half hour of songs, nursery rhymes and games for babies and preschool age children.”

Sunday Explorers also takes place on term time Sunday afternoons from 3pm. The church says, “This is an opportunity for school-aged children to go and learn about Jesus through stories, crafts, games and song. The explorers join with the established Lego Church that is run on the fourth Sunday afternoon of the month. Lego church explores the Bible with Lego bricks and stories. It’s basically faith, fun and food!”

The church added, “Holy Trinity Church in Dilton Marsh is a friendly and all-age encompassing church body in a lovely village. The nearest postcode being BA13 4BU, where the High Street and The Hollow meet.”

Other nearby festive church services

There will also be a carol service at St Mary’s Old Dilton Church on Sunday 17th December at 3pm where organisers say, “Wrap up warm, bring torches, and car share if possible.” There will also be a Christmas carol service on Sunday 24th December from 6pm at All Saints’ Brokerswood.
