A charity golf day organised by local accountancy firm Gooding Accounts has raised more than £12,500 for two children’s charities: Molly Ollys and Bristol Children’s Hospital’s Grand Appeal.
The fundraising event, held on Friday 4th July at Cumberwell Park Golf Club, attracted nearly 100 golfers and included an auction, raffle and special competitions.
This is the second year Gooding Accounts has hosted the golf day, which forms part of their ongoing charitable fundraising. In 2024 alone, the firm raised over £62,500 for Wiltshire charities, and this year’s efforts are focused on two national children’s charities that have a personal connection to the team.
Both Molly Ollys and The Grand Appeal supported the family of one Gooding Accounts’ team member after her five-year-old granddaughter was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.
Sam Gooding, partner and founder of Gooding Accounts said, “We’re delighted to have raised such a huge amount of money for two charities which are so close to our hearts. The day was a great success and we’re already looking forward to doing it all over again next year!
“We were joined by Rachel, the founder of charity Molly Ollys, who leant a helping hand throughout the day. An emotional speech from the girl’s dad reminded those attending about the real-life impact these inspiring charities continue to have on families in our community and beyond.
“Proceeds from the entry fee, raffle, auction and win-a-car competition came to a grand total of £12,500 and every single penny will go to help fund the work that Molly Ollys and The Grand Appeal carry out for seriously ill children and their families.”
Following the success of the day, the team have already scheduled their 2026 event for Friday 10th July. The event is open to all to enjoy, so if you’d like to join the Gooding Accounts’ team, please message at laura@goodingaccounts.co.uk to be kept up to date with news of the event.
The event was supported by a number of local businesses, including Scout and Sage Distillery and Platinum Motor Group who gave golfers the chance to win a brand-new car valued at up to £30,000 with a hole-in-one challenge
