Knitters in Westbury will gather outside Holy Trinity Church later this month as part of a worldwide event celebrating knitting in public.
The event is taking place on Saturday 13th June from 10am to 4pm as part of the Worldwide Knit in Public Day.
“The event sees people from around the world take their passion for knitting outside to celebrate it with others,” said organiser Lynne Vercoe. “It was started in 2005 as a way for knitters to come together to enjoy each other’s company and it has since expanded globally.
“Come and join us, you will be made very welcome. Bring a chair, your knitting needles and wool if you have some spare.”
The event will support the Holy Trinity Eco Church Community Blanket Project. Since it launched in 2022, the project has sent almost 200 blankets made up of six-inch knitted or crocheted squares to Ukraine to support displaced people.
“Hopefully some will knit squares, but we are happy for people to knit whatever they like,” said Lynne.
