LOCAL businesses and residents had a perfect reason to get together for coffee and cake recently, as they joined people across the country for Macmillan’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’.
Coffee mornings took place around Westbury rasing hundreds of pounds for the charity. Forget Me Not and the White Horse Country Park raised £574.31 by selling tea, coffee and an array of cakes, plus a raffle and other fun activities.
Owner of care company Forget Me Not, Karen Williams said, “I would like to say a great big thank you to all who helped run the afternoon.
“Thank you to Hannah at the White Horse Country Park for letting us use the venue, Helen Mead, Hazel Mead and to all my great staff who gave up their time to bring people, thank you to those who helped with setting up quizzes, thank you for all the wonderful cakes baked and donated. Lastly a huge thank you to all who came along and made it such a great afternoon. It was hard work but very enjoyable.”
The Co-op Food store also took part in the day raising £463.20. Team manager Sheila Wollocott said, “It was a fantastic day and we are very pleased with the money we raised. Thank you to everyone who came along and supported it.”
Pupils at Chapmanslade Primary School thoroughly enjoyed making and selling a range of cakes in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The children have been learning about generosity as a Christian value in collective worship this term, and showed just how generous they can be for a good cause.
