Frack Free Westbury is holding its next event on Tuesday 27th September at 7.30pm at The Laverton.
The group will be showing three short films to help people gain an understanding of the threat facing the area.
Group spokesperson Margaret Cavanna says, “The meeting will allow time for questions and discussion about what fracking for gas could mean, and how people can show their opposition to it, if they wish.
“As reported in the last issue of White Horse News, the Oil & Gas Authority fracking licence, for an area which includes Westbury, commenced on 21st July.
“The developer, South Western Energy, therefore has the option to carry out testing and exploratory work within a five year period from that date, and could apply for an extension beyond that.”
Doors open from 7.15pm with tea and coffee available. Entrance is free and donations are welcomed. More information about the campaign group is online at www.keepwiltshirefrackfree.org and www.frackfreewestbury.org
