Providence Baptist Church has kicked off another season of Bake Through the Bible, which they have been running now for over three years.
Organisers Matt and Clare say, “Bake Through the Bible is a concept based on a popular book of the same name, which tries to teach the big themes of the Bible’s one story from Creation to New Creation through exciting baking activities suitable for all ages.
“Under the strapline ‘Bake, chat, learn, eat’, each session consists of the telling of a Bible story, preparation and baking activities on the theme, a short talk about what it all means for us today, and finishes with a buffet tea and plenty of chat. “
Organisers Matt and Clare worked through the book at home with their children about five years ago, but then thought the concept would translate well into a bigger setting.
They explained, “We’ve been through the 20 sessions outlined in the book now, but continue to come up with our own ideas using the same format. Last time we made cheese straws to represent the bars of a prison, illustrating when Jesus’ disciples were put in jail.
“The Bible is such a rich and varied book – there are always plenty more ideas to be had.”
Bake Through the Bible is run from 4-6 pm on Sundays, roughly once a month, at Providence Baptist Chapel, Dilton Marsh. The next session is on Sunday 24th November. Newcomers are always welcome. Please search ‘Bake Through the Bible Dilton’ on Facebook for more info.
