Greengates Care Home in Westbury would like to express their appreciation of the hard work put in by their volunteer gardener, Jean Bowers.
Kath Caldwell, activities co-ordinator at Greengates Care Home said, “Jean began gardening for us when her mum Ethel moved in to Greengates. Sadly, Ethel passed away in the autumn of 2014 after her 100th birthday. Jean now gardens in Ethel’s memory.
“Jean visits the garden more than weekly to weed, plant, water and chat with residents about the progress of flowering plants, fruit and vegetables. We are enjoying harvesting our own strawberries and cucumbers, and looking forward to tomatoes and root vegetables.
“Residents enjoy our beautiful garden from both inside the home and outside in the sunshine.
“Thank you Jean!”
