A memorial bike ride will be held on what would have been the weekend of Lennix Sutcliffe’s ninth birthday.
The Dilton Marsh schoolboy died after he was hit by a car outside his home on 13th April last year.
Various fundraisers have been held in Lennix’s memory as the wider Westbury community works to ensure he is not forgotten.
Jeff Farrell, of the Wilts and Somerset Bike and Trike group, has organised a memorial bike ride from Westbury to Weymouth, which is set to attract a large group. Lennix, whose birthday was on 30th March, was a huge fan of motorbikes.
Each person taking part in the Memorial Ride this weekend will pay £5, which will go towards the charities Combat Stress and Blood Bike.
Jeff said, “I’m expecting upwards of 70 bikers. I think it will be a really good turnout.
“I live in Dilton Marsh myself, and Lennix was my grandson Charlie’s best friend. Charlie is visually impaired, and Lennix was always looking out for him—he was like his second set of eyes.
“I hope this bike ride can become an annual event to remember Lennix. It’s such a sad situation, and we just want to support his family as best we can and do them proud. The money raised will be in Lennix’s memory and go to two really good charities.”
Bikers will meet from 9.30am on Saturday 29th March outside Aimi’s Café & Takeaway on Westbury’s High Street and are due to leave the town centre at 10.30am. People are welcome to come and wave them off. The bike ride is 125cc-friendly.
