CHAPMANSLADE Primary School recently welcomed the Bishop of Ramsbury, Rev Edward Condry, to dedicate a flower planter designed by pupils.
The bishop dedicated a unique flower planter designed last year by members of Redwood Class to recognise the achievements of James Dredge (1794-1863), maltster, brewer and renowned bridge builder born in Chapmanslade.
The planter is partly made of ironwork from the original Victoria Bridge in Bath, which was constructed in 1836 by James Dredge.
The Dredge family has lived in the area for over 250 years with descendants still living locally.
