Children were invited to come to Bitham Brook School dressed as their favourite book character recently, or to bring in their favourite book to share, as part of World Book Day.
Children paired up across the school to read to each other and share their books, and they made bookmarks and designed book covers. The highlight of the day was a visit from Tyler, the reading dog and his owner, Wendy Perkins. Tyler visited each class in turn and listened to the children reading. Tyler enjoyed his visit so much that they are hoping to make it a regular event.
David Ross, headteacher of Bitham Brook Primary School said, “World Book Day was a great opportunity to encourage children’s love of books and it was clear from the effort they put into their costumes and activities, that reading is something they all enjoy.”
