WESTBURY youngster, Kieran Wilkinson, successfully passed his junior 1st Dan Black belt grading in Shotokan Karate on 11th November.
Kieran is one of the most dedicated students at Westbury’s Black Belt Zone Fitness Academy, putting in three hours of training per week. Kieran, now 11 years of age, has trained at Westbury for the last six years with Tony Preston, master instructor with the academy.
The grading consists of a fitness test, combination techniques, semi-freestyle defences, self-defence, 20 minutes of sparring and four katas. The grading took place in Westbury at the academy’s main dojo, with family and club members watching and supporting Kieran.
If anyone would like to try karate or kickboxing at Westbury, please call Tony Preston on 01373 859777 or 07835 714796. He said, “We have classes which are held three times per week and private tuition is also available. We encourage family membership to create a unique bond between parents and siblings.”
