Local hospice Dorothy House is holding its annual Christmas tree collection fundraiser this year in partnership with the national charity JustHelping.
Local residents can now book their Christmas trees for collection in exchange for a charitable donation to Dorothy House. Supporters and volunteers from Dorothy House will collect trees between 10th and 12th January 2025.
To take part, visit https://just-helping.org.uk/register-tree, make a donation and provide the location of your tree.
Dorothy House requests a donation to help fund its specialist palliative and end-of-life care services, which are provided free of charge by the hospice.
All trees must be clearly labelled with a ‘Dorothy House’ tag and can be collected from businesses, schools, churches and offices. A percentage of trees will be chipped and shredded to create reusable materials for the community.
Since 2017, the hospice’s Christmas tree collection has raised over £370,000. Dorothy House hopes to surpass the £97,000 raised during the 2024 collection. The hospice must raise £4 for every £1 it receives from the NHS to fund its care for local people living with a life-limiting illness, along with their families and carers.
