Bratton has earned the runners-up position in this year’s Laurence Kitching Award, a competition for past winners of the Wiltshire Best Kept Village Award.
The Laurence Kitching Award, often referred to as the ‘winners of winners’ contest, features previous champions of the Campaign to Protect Rural England’s (CPRE) Best Kept Village Award. Having claimed first place in both the Laurence Kitching Competition two years ago and the Best Kept Large Village category last year, Bratton secured second place this year, with the village of Urchfont taking the top spot.
A spokesperson for the Tidy Bratton Group said, “People in Bratton feel very proud to have been placed second in the Laurence Kitching Award for 2024.”
“Urchfont is a beautiful village and we are sure that they were delighted to win. Whatever place we gained in the competition, we in Bratton are proud of our village and lucky to live somewhere so beautiful and full of enthusiastic people.”
Mike Manson, CPRE project officer responsible for running the competition, said, “In all categories the spread of scores was very small, demonstrating that the standard was very high in all villages.”
