WESTBURY community engagement manager, Graeme Morrison, is hoping to bring a ‘youth voice’ back to the town, giving young people the chance to choose new projects to fund.
With no current active ‘local youth network’ in Westbury, which gives the chance for young people to share their ideas to the council for funding new events/projects in the town, there is an outstanding budget of over £7,000 that could be used to start something exciting for children aged 13-19 in the area.
During a meeting at Fairfield Farm College on Wednesday 4th December to discuss the town’s youth provision, it was established that Westbury has good provision for the young, including sports teams with youth sections, Matravers CCF, Guides and Scouts.
However, Graeme Morrison is looking to undertake further consultation with young people to find out what they want to spend money on in the town.
He is looking to put out an online survey, with support from Matravers School, to gauge what young people need in areas such as mental health and wellbeing, or sports and leisure activities.
The survey will be available soon but in the meantime, you can contact Graeme Morrison with your ideas on graeme.morrison @wiltshire.gov.uk.
