Businesses urged to be vigilant following burglaries in Edington

POLICE officers investigating two burglaries in the Edington area are urging businesses to be vigilant. 

“The first incident took place on 2nd January,” reports the police, “a business in Edington Station Yard was targeted and 90 cells of batteries worth approximately £10,000 were stolen. It is believed the padlock to the yard was cut in order to gain access to the site. 

“The second incident took place on 21st February – a padlock at a business in Station Yard was also cut and numerous solar panels and cables were stolen, as well as electrical items, tools and batteries.” 

PC Dan Chaventre adds, “We believe on both occasions these businesses have been targeted for specific materials. It is likely that it would have taken at least two people a significant amount of time to load the stolen items into a vehicle before making off from the scene. 

“We’ve increased regular patrols of the area and we are conducting extensive enquiries in relation to both incidents. 

“However, we’d like to urge business owners who may have similar materials on site to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police immediately. 

“We understand that incidents of this nature can be extremely frustrating for business owners and we are doing all we can to identify those responsible.”
