THE Westbury fundraising committee for Cancer Research UK has announced that they are to close due to a shortage of volunteers.
Chair for the committee, Sheila Carruthers said, “In 1952, a small group of ladies formed a fundraising committee in support of Cancer Research. During the subsequent 66 years, hundreds of thousands of pounds were raised by the volunteers who joined in this effort.
“Now, due to a lack of volunteers, our team feels unable to carry on this worthy cause. At our recent AGM it was with great sadness that a decision was made to close down our Westbury fundraising committee.
“We wish to thank all those who have supported our efforts over the years and particularly all the committee members who work tirelessly for Cancer Research.”
