THE A.C.T.S Theatre Arts School is now open for enrolment, offering 6 to 17-year olds ‘a chance to sparkle’.
The theatre school now has two locations – with its flagship school in Warminster, which has been running since 2011, and a new second school in Calne.
Founder and principal of A.C.T.S, Chris Turner, a local professional musician with a wealth of experience in the theatre arts, has had work performed in Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End. He moved to the area in 2008, having previously co-founded a smaller theatre arts school in Essex.
Chris has been passionate about building a strong school, providing everything youngsters in the area need to be the very best on stage and screen, whilst bridging the gap between amateur dramatics and professional theatre arts.
At the A.C.T.S Warminster school, based in Horningsham, students are given professional tuition in drama, singing and dance classes every week. There are plenty of opportunities to throw all three elements together, giving them the full theatre arts experience.
Families can see progress in action through end-of-term demonstrations and performances. Alongside all the experience gained, students get the chance to gain qualifications in musical theatre to go on their CVs.
A.C.T.S is not just a theatre school though as it has been approved by Spotlight, the UK’s most popular casting directory. Its students will benefit from the A.C.T.S agency providing many opportunities in the South West to perform in both amateur and professional productions. Many of its students will also benefit from the opportunity to join the Spotlight Directory itself, giving them a great chance to enter the professional entertainment’s industry nationwide.
A.C.T.S Warminster has already had many successes, with students going on to the prestigious Sylvia Young theatre school in London, casting directors visiting and many students having lead roles in local theatres. Several students are right now on the Spotlight casting directory and more will join them when the new school opens.
Chris says, “It’s not all about the performing success though, we love to see our students grow in confidence and stature as people, due to the friendly, positive, yet professional attitude of our staff. Young people come to us for all sorts of reasons, some to be stars, some for a hobby and a social life, others to find themselves as people and we love to see the journey for them all.”
New school
Chris added, “Calne is a growing, dynamic town at the heart of Wiltshire, with many youngsters deserving of the opportunities that other towns in Wiltshire already offer. I can see A.C.T.S doing great things for families there and have been delighted with the positive feedback from the town council and local businesses thus far.”
Fynamore Primary School provides the new venue, giving the students plenty of space in which to rehearse.
A.C.T.S will be looking to get students out in the community performing and Chris is already in discussions with many local groups for this purpose.
