Several members and friends packed over 30 shoeboxes at Westbury Methodist Church on 11th October, for The Trussell Trust Christmas Box Appeal.
The boxes are sent to Bulgaria, to orphanages, Roma communities, women’s refuges, poor rural schools and refugees.
Sandra Maidment, steward at Westbury Methodist Church said, “We had lots of items left, but ran out of shoeboxes! These have since ‘appeared’ and we hope to have 50 or more to send off in November.”
It costs the Trust thousands of pounds to run the Christmas Appeal, so they ask all who can to donate £2 for each box.
The organisers say, “If you would like to help in this way, or if you need somewhere to leave a box, you are most welcome to do so at Westbury Methodist Church foyer on Sundays 9th and 16th November between 10.00 and 10.15am, or 11.45am and 12.00noon, or on Wednesdays 5th and 12th November between 7.00 and 7.15pm.”
