THE ever-popular All Saints’ Christmas Tree Festival proved to be a big hit with locals with over £2,000 being raised to support the church.
Over 1,700 people came to see the 40 Christmas trees decorated by schools, businesses, and community organisations. The festival was opened on Friday 2nd December by the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire William Wyldbore-Smith and the mayor of Westbury, Sheila Kimmins and they were helped by dancers from Dancecraft.
On the Saturday, visitors were able to enjoy music from the fairground organ as well as live music from the Hilperton Recorder Players and Amusette. The popular Christingle service at 4pm on Sunday attracted around 90 people.
The Christmas tree with the most votes was Bitham Brook Primary School with the 1st Westbury Scout Group the runners up.
Organisers say, “This year’s Christmas Tree Festival at All Saints’ Church was a great success! Over £2,000 was raised to support the work of the church throughout the coming year. We want to thank all the volunteers who came to support the event including members of the Rotary Club and all the people who came to visit the church and support the groups who decorated the trees.”
Revd Rebecca Harris added, “We were very pleased to welcome so many people into All Saints’ over the weekend. It was great to see so many people of all ages enjoying the beautiful trees on display. We hope to see many more during the run up to Christmas this year.”
