
MAYOR of Westbury, councillor Stephen Andrews held his civic service which was attended by dignitaries and a full church on Sunday 29th January.
The service saw a number of mayors from around the county, as well as the chair of Wiltshire Council, councillor Richard Britton and his wife June, the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Mrs Helen Birchenough and Archdeacon Alan Jeans join cllr Andrews and his wife, Mary at All Saints Church.
The church was well attended with representatives from local churches reading a prayer. The Mayoress, Mary Andrews also delivered a reading.
Cllr Andrews said, “I would to thank everyone for their support and hard work in making this event a very special and memorable day.”
Westbury Choral Society and All Saints Church Choir sang at the service and the ATC 68 Squadron Air Cadets as well as students from Matravers School attended.
During the service, a collection was made in support of the mayor’s charities; Carer Support Wiltshire and The Welfare of the Elderly (Westbury). After the service, everyone was invited back to The Laverton for refreshments.
