An exciting new community centre is to open in Westbury this month in the former youth centre on Eden Vale Road.
Westbury Community Project (WCP) is currently transforming the building into a vibrant community hub, offering space to local groups and organisations. The group plans to open the building at the end of this month, with an official opening in the summer.
Users of the centre will include Superstars – a club run for children in the school holidays; Westbury Shed; Wiltshire College, which would use the centre as an outpost, delivering training courses to all ages; Westbury Youth Football Club; and Westbury Juniors and Infants schools.
Chair of the project Richard Hatt, pictured, said, “I am pleased to say that the refurbishment is moving on at pace and the advert has gone out for a development manager post to be appointed in the next couple of weeks. Although not fully operational, we are looking to open the doors in some capacity at the end of March and then to have a formal opening in May/June when we are further developed.
“We are now very much in the business of taking long and short term bookings. As a non-profit charity, rates are extremely competitive. With WCP being open seven days a week, we are keen that we are contacted as soon as possible as the venue already has a number of interested parties.”
