Westbury Area Board awarded over £22,000 of grants to support local groups and community projects at a meeting at the Leighton Recreation Centre on Thursday 23rd March.
Wiltshire Council devolves significant funding to the Area Boards in order for them to invest in local community projects and initiatives that meet local priorities and deliver exceptional outcomes for residents. Area Board grants are split into four fundraising schemes; community grants, youth grants, older and vulnerable adult grants, and councillor led initiatives.
The grants awarded were:
- Westbury Parochial Church Council at All Saints’ Church – £597.50 towards their drop in Youth Café, which is held in Westbury Parish Hall every Friday from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
- Crosspoint Westbury – £5,000 towards their counselling services to improve mental health and resilience. To find out more information about this free service visit: www.crosspoint-westbury.co.uk/counselling
- Westbury Marketplace Events CIC – £2,350 towards a Westbury community tea dance and celebration which is due to take place after the coronation of King Charles III.
- Bratton Institute Management Committee – £4,445 towards the roof repair, refurbishment, insulation and retile at the Bratton Church Institute.
- Westbury Town Council – £566.95 towards Soapbox Derby workshops.
- The Laverton Institute Trust – £4,445 towards The Laverton new audio system.
- Westbury and District Cricket Club – £3,426 towards cricket ground improvements.
- £1,350 towards the Westbury Community Area Health and Wellbeing Day with the funding to be provided from the older and vulnerable adults allocation.
