A local community hall has raised enough funds for urgent roof repairs through community fundraising efforts.
Damage to the roof at Dilton Memorial Hall was uncovered while solar panels were being installed last winter, and the issue caused water to seep into joists and plasterwork in the bathrooms and cleaner’s area.
Fundraising began in January to help the hall afford essential repairs, with the aim of raising £4,000.
Funds were raised through donations from hall users and local residents, as well as a Coyote Country music concert in April. The hall also received a grant of £3,994 from the Westbury Area Board.
“I cannot stress enough how grateful we are for the support we have received; it means the hall can continue to be a focus for the whole community,” said committee member Lynne Gill.
“The next stage of the project is to replaster the damp walls and then give the hall a well-deserved glow up!”
The hall is hosting another fundraising concert this month where Band of Others will perform on 6th June.
Tickets cost £10 and are available to purchase on the door or by contacting the trustees on 07811121494 or DMHTrustees@gmail.com.
