A DUO from a local independent funeral company have successfully completed the Salzkammergut Trophy, cycling 75km in the Austrian mountains, on Saturday 14th July. They also raised money for a children’s charity.
Beverley and Dale Vincent from Westbury, who both work at Iles and Vincent Funeral Services in Warminster, were two of 2,500 entrants from 40 different nations – being the only ones on this part of the route representing Great Britain.
They had trained hard for the challenge, both on their own and with the help and support of friends and family and Jon and Martin at Club 24 fitness in Westbury.
The duo, wearing their new cycling jerseys. only had a few days to acclimatize to the mountains and train on the narrow and treacherous mountain paths.
The route was a tough 10.5 hour cycle up gravelled mountain paths in 30+ degree heat, followed by a rain storm of hailstones, thunder and lighting. However, they made it to the end, arriving at the finish in wet, cold and dark conditions.
Business partner Anna Iles said, “We were all behind Bev and Dale 100%, they have undertaken (no pun intended!) to take on this challenge to raise money and awareness for a really special charity. Only 30 women took part this year and I am so very proud that Bev was one of them! We were relieved to hear they had completed the race and even facing added challenges along the way, they are both safe and sound!”
Bev and Dale are raising money for the TLC Appeal, Teddies for Loving Care, a charity which raises funds to supply A&E units with teddy bears and cuddly toys for children in distress. The calming-effect of the toys assist medical staff.

Beverley added, “Thank you to everyone for all the support, donations and kind messages you have sent, I couldn’t have done this without it – and to Dale, I now believe you are half man and half mountain goat!”
