HOLY Trinity Church has joined forces with resident Lisa Crick, whose idea is a ‘Transform-A-Chair Summer Challenge’, taking old school chairs and upcycling them to be sold at auction, raising money for the church.
Sue Stanley, co-organiser of Holy Trinity Church said, “We have been giving away old school chairs that we no longer use, in exchange for a commitment to upcycle them and return them to church in September. They will then be included in our Upcycled Chair Expo, which will be followed by an auction of the chairs.
“The changes are only limited to your imagination! You can use all sorts of materials, glues, paints, crafts. Any theme from hobbies to occupations; ballet to battleships, dentistry to poodle parlours, superheroes to cuddly cats and anywhere in between that is politically correct.”
Chairs are limited so they will be issued on a first- come, first-served basis, so reserve yours as soon as possible with Sue on 01373 229618 or Liz on 01373 827178.
The upcycled chair expo and will take place on Saturday 8th September, in and around the church between 10am-1pm, with the auction beginning at 2pm.
Savoury and sweet snacks will be available to buy between 1pm and 2pm and coffee, tea and soft drinks will be available all day.
If you cannot bear to part with your artwork, you can buy back your chair for only £5, it will still appear in the expo, but not in the auction.
There are hints and tips available for those stuck for ideas from the church and all chairs must be returned, upcycled, to the church by Friday 7th September.
Let your imagination run wild as you help raise money for Holy Trinity Church.
Sue added, “Do come and see us, support the church in the rare times of fundraising for ourselves. Some chairs may not even come back as chairs – but you need to come and see for yourselves!”
