LOCAL dance school, Just So Dance, recently took part in the national event, Tapathon 2018, to attempt to smash a current world record and at the same time raise funds for charity.
By taking part, Just So Dance students and teachers raised £530 for BBC’s Children in Need. In total there were 53 tap dancers who completed the challenge at Just So Dance from as young as 4 years old.
Katie Mence, dance teacher, arranged for the students to take part. Katie said, “The students were amazing and there was a hush in the studio as they waited for the text to come in telling us we had to start the challenge.”
The set piece which every tap dancer nationwide had to dance to was 7 minutes long and as the 53 students and teachers danced in Westbury, there were thousands dancing to the same piece of music at exactly the same time across the UK.
In addition to this, on Friday 16th November, BBC Wiltshire Radio was playing Pudsey’s Giant Clueless. Presenters Ben Prater and Rachel Houghton did battle to solve clues which took them around the county hunting for their next destination. Just So Dance was one of the stop-offs for Team Rach, and Katie was the clue keeper.
This went out live on the Sue Davis show and Katie was able to share with the listeners how exciting it was to be part of Tapathon 2018. The students are keenly waiting hear if the world record was achieved.
