A WESTBURY-based photographer will climb 19,340 feet to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro to raise cash for a charity that helps disabled children and young people take part in sporting events.
Danny Taylor, from Alldesignz Event Photography, will climb the world’s tallest free-standing mountain later this month.
Danny hopes to raise £3,000 for the charity Get Kids Going! a national charity that provides wheelchairs for disabled children and young people to help them participate in sports events.
Danny says his cousin, who is disabled, is his inspiration for backing the charity Get Kids Going!
Danny said, “It’s going to be a long climb, but I’m looking forward to it. As a photographer, there will be some great views from the summit. It will take five days to reach the top and one day to come down.”
Danny’s Kilimanjaro climb will be his fifth trek to raise cash for Get Kids Going! He has previously walked along the Inca Trail in Peru; a section of the Great Wall of China; Annapurna, a section of the Himalayas in north-central Nepal and braved the scorching desert to reach the historic city of Petra in Jordan.
If he reaches his target of £3,000, Danny will have raised close to £10,000 in total for the charity.
“It’s a worthwhile cause and is backed by Lord Sebastian Coe, who was a childhood hero of mine,” explained Danny. “I’m taking a couple of cameras up Kilimanjaro with me, I have been told that they could freeze, so it’s good to take a back up.”
