RIBBONS is looking back fondly on 26 years in Westbury, but with its owner and staff coming up to retirement, the shop will be closing down.
The ladies’ boutique, led by Heather Singer, is saying a big thank you to all the customers who have supported them over the years.
Ribbons began life in 1987, when the original owner Phyliss Penington saw an opening in the Westbury area for a high quality ladies’ fashion shop.
Heather, who was her manageress, took over the shop in 1996. She and her three colleagues have all worked together in the shop since.
The shop sells casual and special occasion outfits, complemented by an extensive range of jewellery, hats, and fascinators. Offering a personal service has been the shop’s priority and as a result, it has drawn customers from near and far, who return again and again. The shop has helped many mother-of-the-bride or groom’s mother, or those after an outfit for a special day. While Heather and her team follow the latest from designers, they also hand-pick what they stock in the shop according to what they know their customers will like.
Heather said, “It’s been fun. It’s for happy occasions, and usually people are excited when they come in. Often they need help, some people are quite shy about clothes, and we try to make them feel at ease and give them a personal service.”
Over the years Heather and her team have received many cards, photographs and letters from happy customers.
Located on Warminster Road, at the junction with Haynes Road, the shop has also been known for its window displays.
The shop currently has a closing down sale, with many items at much reduced prices.
