LADIES from the Dilton Mothers’ Union branch made Christingles for the service at Holy Trinity Church, Dilton Marsh, held on Sunday 3rd December which the church says was enjoyed by all.
A collection was held during the service which raised £50 for the Children’s Society, but this is expected to rise when collection candle boxes, handed out during the service, will be returned.
The church says, “The Christingle service was enjoyed by everyone. Rev Caroline explained the meaning of all the parts that make up the Christingle; the orange represents the world, the red ribbon (or tape) symbolises the love and blood of Christ, the sweets and dried fruit represent all of God’s creations and the lit candle represents Jesus’s light in the world, bringing hope to people living in darkness.”
The Children’s Society is a national charity that works to transform the hopes and happiness of young people facing abuse, exploitation and neglect. The charity supports them through their most serious life challenges and campaigns for social changes that will improve the lives of those who need hope most.
