CONSTRUCTION will soon begin on new houses in Bratton after Wiltshire Council approved the reserved matters application for 31 houses on land north of Westbury Road.
The scheme is designed to cater to a variety of needs, offering five shared ownership properties, seven homes for affordable rent, and 19 open market plots.
Outline planning permission was approved for the site in 2022.
Bratton Parish Council previously commented on the plans saying, “[We] are pleased to see the overall design that Ashford Homes have provided for the site and appreciate the effort they have made to engage with the residents of the parish.
“We recognise the potential benefits that the development will bring to the viability of the parish, including additional pupils for village schools, custom for the village shop, The Duke public house and users of the two village halls.”
Tom Griffiths, development director of Ashford Homes said, “We are delighted to secure reserved matters on this site on our doorstep in Wiltshire.
“The outcome is testament to the skill and dedication of our local design team, and we look forward to delivering a diverse mix of high-quality homes across the development. All properties will benefit from the usual high-end Ashford specification and efficient building fabric, complemented by the use of air source heat pumps and the provision of EV charging facilities.
“The scheme will also deliver biodiversity net gain by creating ecological buffer zones, wildflower meadows and utilising sustainable drainage techniques. The detailed design process is now firmly under way and we look forward to making a start on site in the spring.”
