THIS month’s Flower and Handicraft Show in Dilton Marsh, held on 13th August, has been hailed the most successful ever by organisers.
Organiser Liz Lee reports, “The public poured through the doors to view the entries of handicrafts, photographs, fruit, vegetables, preserves, baking and flowers.
“The auction of goods that followed allowed the visitors to relax with tea and refreshments as show chairman Chris Good brought the hammer down on the many bargains.
“Winners of the various categories were: Pam Good, Penny Birstingl, Heather Burton, Clive Short, Chris Good, Brian Fitzsimons, Georgina Blandford, Angie Gibbs, Bob Lee, Rosie Fitzsimons, Christine Denner, Priscilla Gray, Benita Browne, Elspeth Lenders, Liz Lee, Hilda Watts, Sara Honor, Patrick Stevenson, Richard Honor, Martin Honor, Sam Lenders, Sugarcraft Group, Helen Jones, Church Flower Group, Ethan Lenders, Mia Froggatt, Oscar Froggatt and Christopher Jefferies.
“The Mead Nursery Cup, awarded for the most points gained in the flower and floral art classes, was won by Pat Nowell.
“The Iris Hares Cup awarded for the most points gained in the handicraft and photography classes was won by Eunice Stride and the WI Challenge Plate for the best group entry was won by Dilton Marsh WI.
“Maureen Flynn was the winner of the John Irving Cup for fruit and vegetables, the Joan Bracken Cup for Cookery and the Amateur Gardening club Cup for the most points overall.”
