ISSUES raised at the ‘Westbury Forward’ community planning event will be on the agenda at the next meeting of the Westbury Area Board.
The board is planning to fund a weekly job club at the Crosspoint drop-in centre in the Market Place to help those looking for jobs.
Another concern raised by the community was dog fouling – and the area board is committed to tackling that with an awareness raising poster campaign.
Grant applications to fund the awareness campaign and the first year of the job club will be among those considered at the area board meeting on Thursday 16th August at the Laverton. The meeting will also provide an update on other issues raised by the community and will feature a presentation on volunteering, and information on Wiltshire Council’s consultation into the proposed partial switch off of street lighting.
“The area board is all about working in and for the community and we are committed to trying to tackle the issues and concerns raised by local people,” said area board chairman, Mike Cuthbert Murray.
The area board meeting is open to everyone. It starts at 7.00pm but refreshments and a chance to meet your local councillor is available from 6.30pm. The full agenda is available online.
