THE Institution of Engineering Designers (IED), based in Westbury Leigh, collected items from a reserve advent calendar and donated them to Warminster food bank.
Jo Winslow, education and training manager at IED said, “The Institution of Engineering Designers are a charity based in Westbury Leigh. We have been established since 1945 and gained Royal Charter in 2012. The IED is a premier membership body representing engineering and product designers, aiming to support and inspire our members to achieve their career goals and professional aspirations.
“Last year as part of our Christmas activities, throughout November we collected for a reverse advent calendar. For each day in November a staff member has procured an item off the shopping list, as suggested by the local food bank.
“Not only did we collect food items, but other essential household items like toothpaste, toilet roll, shampoo and J-cloths. We also ensured that there were Christmassy items including Christmas puddings, advent calendars and a whole shopping bag full of mince pies.
“Nine huge bags of shopping was dropped off to help support the Food Bank during December. The volunteers were overwhelmed and very grateful for our donation. Not a bad collection for a team of seven staff.
“A big shout out needs to go to Linda Parry our membership manager who got her whole family involved with the shopping experience. Thank you.”
