The Westbury and District League of Friends has joined forces with the Patient Participation Group from the White Horse Health Centre to raise funds for children’s medical equipment.
Over £1,000 was raised from a raffle and cake sale which will be used to purchase a paediatric oxcymeter, which gives an instant measure of oxygen levels in children with breathing difficulties.
The oxcymeter will be used by the duty doctor on a daily basis and will help with diagnosis and early treatment of sick children.
The winter months often mean that children with breathing difficulties are taken to the health centre more frequently and so the oxcymeter will be very well used on a daily basis and will aid early diagnosis of children who may need hospital treatment
Erica Watson, chair of Westbury and District LOF said, “The LOF and PPG would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who supported this initiative by buying a raffle ticket or cake and a very big thank you to all of those who took the time to make such lovely cakes for us to sell.
“Your support is much appreciated as it allows the LOF to continue supporting health care in the Westbury area.
“We look forward to seeing you at our annual bingo evening on December 3rd at Westbury Conservative Club where we will be raising money for Hope for Tomorrow – more details to be announced nearer the date.”
Members of the LOF and STOP will also be attending a public meeting that will take place at the Laverton on Wednesday 28th October at 7pm. “This will be the last chance for members of the public to voice their concerns about the plans for more housing in Westbury,” said Erica.
