BATH’S only rugby walk is back! The event, in aid of Dorothy House and Bath Rugby Foundation, will understandably look a little different this year, as walkers are encouraged to step out, step up and take the challenge to another level.

Dorothy House report, “In previous years, upwards of 500 people have taken part in this event, walking from Dorothy House in Winsley, to the home of Bath Rugby at The Rec. In 2021 however, for the first time, the charities are throwing down the gauntlet and participants can choose their very own rugby- themed distance walk over the Six Nations.

“Between 6 Feb – 20 March, participants will choose their own rugby-themed distance walk. So, if over the six-week period you want to walk from The Rec to the Principality Stadium (57 miles), to Twickenham (107 miles), or even Murrayfield (387 miles!) the length of your challenge it’s totally up to you.

“To add some bonus points, a weekly fun or sporting blitz challenge will be laid down by some of Bath Rugby’s famous faces and some of our own charity stars. There will be brilliant prizes for top fundraisers and individual blitz winners!

“Hosting the event virtually this year ensures that we can still get outside, get fundraising, enjoy the rugby and support two of Bath’s most loved charities!

“The Bath Rugby Walk Challenge is free – and when you sign up, we’ll send you a free t-shirt too! Wear your event shirt as you take on your distance walk and the weekly challenges. All we ask is that you raise as much money as you can for our two amazing charities so that we can continue to provide vital services throughout our community.

“Each year the work of Dorothy House and Bath Rugby Foundation has a direct impact on the most vulnerable. From some of the youngest people, who have had the toughest start in life, to those at the end of their lives, both charities deliver ongoing care directly to those in our community who need it now more than ever.”

Emily Knight, event fundraiser, Dorothy House said, “It’s fantastic to be working with Bath Rugby Foundation again on this much-loved community walk to help raise vital funds for our community. During a pandemic it’s even more important for the two charities to work together and build on the great success of this event.”

Halena Coury, head of fundraising at Bath Rugby Foundation said, “During this unique year the event is free, easy to enter and brings together friends to walk and talk and safely catch up. Social and emotional health is key to both charities and Bath Rugby Foundation is delighted to be working with Dorothy House again this year.

“Both charities have been affected by the pandemic, with more people needing us and less revenue available to provide our vital services. We cannot stress how important this fundraising event is to both charities. We look forward to seeing how much fun and creativity our incredible walkers can inject into this challenge.”

Entry is free and includes an exclusive Bath Rugby Walk T-shirt. Terms and conditions apply – please follow the link for further details
