THE hugely popular White Horse Soapbox Derby will take place on Saturday 20th May next year and competitors are being asked to get their entries in now.
Next year’s engineering extravaganza will welcome teams from every rung on the engineering ladder, with event organisers hoping to get the same mix of schools, engineering colleges, local enthusiasts and professionals.
The first Soapbox Derby that took place this year saw over 4,000 spectators come from right across the country to watch 20 teams of engineers and amateurs compete to race down the steep hill leading to the White Horse.
Organisers as Westbury Town Council say, “In fact, the navy have recently enquired about having a team, no doubt keen to go head-to-head with the army’s team from the Royal Mechanical Engineers.
“A huge thank you to the White Horse Equestrian Centre for their continued support. The event won’t take place on the equestrian centre grounds next year. Instead, the attractions, big screens, kids’ area, food and drink, will all be contained within the field opposite, also owned by the equestrian centre, ensuring a real festival feel for 2023.”
Entrants can go to the White Horse Soapbox Derby Facebook page to enter.
New sponsors are also welcome to get in touch at events@westburytowncouncil.gov.uk. Arke Ltd, TORN, Western Skip Hire, Justworkwear.co.uk, and local web designers Honeystone.co.uk have already signed up to support the event.
