Familiar faces are back behind the bar!

SOME familiar faces are taking over the reins at Westbury’s White Horse Country Park – Paul and Teresa Mead are back!

Well-known in the community for running the Railway Inn for 17 years, Paul and Teresa are embarking on a new journey as they prepare to open the renamed ‘The Venue at White Horse Country’ next month.

Teresa told White Horse News, “We are excited to be back, we ran the Railway Inn for 17 years – but have been out of the game for three years now. 

“Running a venue like this has always appealed to us, so despite all the problems with Covid-19, we decided to just grab the bull by the horns and go for it!

“This is a new direction for the two of us, but we will use our experience of running the Railway to provide the same level of service as we did, but with a different look and feel.

“The venue is fantastic – it’s an idyllic setting – where else can you have a relaxed drink with views of Westbury White Horse, the golf course and the lakes?”

About their plans for when they open, Teresa said, “We’ll be running the bar, food service, and function hall – so we’ll be able to host weddings, functions, conferences, small parties, and larger parties when we are allowed. And we will, when allowed, host live music nights and tribute bands. We also plan to be open for Christmas Day for lunches, as well as Christmas functions during the festive period and New Year’s Eve.

“And the food on offer, during the day and evenings, will be good home-cooked style food – with a varied menu. Lighter lunch options will be available and we plan to bring back the Sunday carvery – something we were famous for at the Railway!

“It’s not going to be easy at first because of the Covid-19 restrictions, but we will take this opportunity and give it 110%.

“We hope to open from 1st August – and at some point we will host a grand opening. It feels great to be back!”
