THREE generations of the local family business, StoneKraft, came to the rescue of the Friends of Victoria Garden (FVG) when they repaired the well-known stone seats in the ‘secret garden’ near All Saints’ Church in Westbury.

The local business offered to make repairs to the stonework for free, and they even managed to get the younger members of the family to roll their sleeves up and get involved with helping the local community.
FVG Secretary, Margaret Saunders explained, “Sadly wear and tear had damaged one of the seat tops and we had to remove another couple which were loose and therefore not safe. It was noticed by one of the original participants in the Westbury Arts Festival project that had created the carved stone seats.
“She very kindly put us in touch with the Turk family, local stonemasons who run the Westbury Firm, StoneKraft. Brian and his son Martin were assisted by Martin’s sons, and donated their time and materials to get the repairs done.
“It is lovely to think that there are local firms like StoneKraft who are willing to support their community like this”, Margaret added. “Brian and Martin and the boys have also offered to carve some animal reliefs for us to put in the garden which is so generous of them and will bring an added appeal, particularly to the children using the garden.
“We are incredibly grateful to all the volunteers who help to maintain Victoria Garden; I know it has been a haven of calm and natural beauty for many residents, especially during the last couple of years. If you haven’t been in the garden (known by some as the Secret Garden!) do come and find it by All Saints Church. We welcome volunteers to help us with gardening and also with fundraising events which were curtailed during the pandemic. Contact us at fvgwestbury@yahoo.co.uk for more information on how to get involved.”
