WESTBURY’S Foodbank and Community Fridge will be keeping their doors open over most of the Christmas period.
The Westbury Area Network (WAN) is a volunteer- run charity serving Westbury and the surrounding villages which operates the Foodbank and manages the community fridge which prevents surplus food from being wasted.
Linda Hallowell, a trustee for WAN said, “The Foodbank is to give help to people in urgent need of help while the community fridge is open to anyone, regardless of circumstances. The real aim of this particular fridge is to reduce food waste to landfill.”
The opening times for the WAN foodbank are as follows: • Monday, 20 December, 10.30am – 12.00pm; • Wednesday, 22 December, 10.30am – 12.00pm; • Thursday, 23 December, 10.30am- 12.00pm; • Friday, 24 December, 6.30 – 7.30pm; • Monday, 27 December – closed, • Bank Holiday; Wednesday, 29 December, 10.30am- 12.00pm; • Thursday, 30 December, 10.30am – 12.00pm; • Monday, 3 January, 10.30am- 12.00pm
These operating times will also continue throughout 2022.
WAN have asked for those that need to access the foodbank to collect, if they can, from the WCP on Eden Vale Road.
The charity says, “We will be very busy, so please only request a delivery if it is absolutely necessary.”
The community fridge can be found at the Westbury Community Project in Eden Vale Road.
