Sat 6th Jan. Southern League Division One South Westbury United 0 Evesham United 1
APART from the opening five minutes, Evesham were the stronger team throughout this rather insipid encounter. Evesham found a way to score the only goal of the game and defended so well that Westbury barely had a sight of goal.
The hosts’ best chances came within those early exchanges; Bevan Cross had a shot deflected wide then Ryan Bole’s effort landed on the roof of the net. The visitors went close when Jonny Hill had to be alert as Kieran Bailey’s skewed clearance came his way.
Towards the break, Hill made the best save of the match to deny Aidan Clark. A minute later Dan Demkiv had an 18 yarder that Benjamin Taylor held easily. Evesham stepped up their play enough after half time to force a way through when Levi Steele and Aaron Heap combined with Steele finishing excellently on 55.
Amongst a lot of uneventful action, Frederick Willcox had a few attempts for the visitors while Bole’s cross-shot was punched away by Taylor. The home side got men forward in the closing stages but were met with a very determined opposition.
