THE first wedding hosted at Westbury Conservative Club since 2019 went “incredibly well for the very happy couple” and featured a wedding breakfast and a garden reception.
Laura Richards, the club’s wedding organiser, told White Horse News, “This was our first wedding of the year and the first since 2019. We were very much looking forward to hosting this special day and getting back into the swing of things. This is the start of the club getting back on our feet. We had 30 for the day event and wedding breakfast and then an extra 20 for the evening garden celebration.”
The newlyweds, Andrew and Katrina Roddis said, “It was an amazing day and the hosts were incredible. It felt special.”
The wedding was originally booked to take place in 2019 but due to the onset of the pandemic and resulting restrictions, it had to be rescheduled numerous times. With the latest lifting of restrictions there is no limit on the number of guests who can attend a wedding, but a Covid risk assessment must be completed for the venue.
Laura said, “They were unable to have a photo booth and sweet cart due to Covid and we had to make the massive change of having our function room for their first dance and evening disco to a marquee in the garden.”
Finally able to go ahead with their big day, Andrew and Katrina were married at Trowbridge Registry Office on Friday 25th June, which was followed by celebrations at the Conservative club. Attendees enjoyed a two-course roast carvery and in the evening, there was a disco and plated buffet under a marquee in the garden.
