A free home cooking programme is running for local residents, designed to support families and individuals with their food budgeting.
The programme is run by Bags of Taste, a non-profit organisation which helps people take control of their food choices, health and budgets. It runs courses across England and is now working in Wiltshire.
The courses are particularly useful for families or individuals who want to cook healthier meals at home, people looking to save money on food, anyone who relies heavily on ready meals or takeaways, and those who want to gain confidence and variety in their cooking.
The team provides a free delivery of ingredients, enough for three low-cost meals (around seven servings), along with mentoring via WhatsApp or phone over two weeks so participants can cook at their own pace. Continued support is also offered, including extra recipes, a small gift and access to an online community for ongoing tips and encouragement.
Participants can sign up directly through the Bags of Taste website, and people can also submit someone’s details, with their permission, for them to be registered on the course.
To sign up, visit https://bagsoftaste.org/courses/course-registration/ and select Wiltshire (outside of Swindon).
