A family fun day in memory of local boy Lennix Sutcliffe, who died after being struck by a car near his home in Dilton Marsh earlier this year, has raised over £2,300 for local causes.
The fundraiser event, which took place through the afternoon and into the night at The View on 21st July, included live music, activities for children such as inflatables and a fun fair, and a firework display in the evening.
The event was organised by a friend of Lennix’s family, Cherise Cobb, who has been fundraising in memory of Lennix. The money raised from the event will go back into the community and to the family’s chosen charity, Wiltshire Air Ambulance, which fought to save Lennix.
Speaking at the event, Cherise said, “It’s been fantastic. We’ve got lots going on. We’ve got dinosaurs, inflatables, hair braiding – we’ve got the lot!”
Local businesses also supported the event. “Everyone has been so kind,” said Cherise. “We’ve had sponsors so we can do the fireworks and a sponsor for the children’s bingo. The main prize is a holiday to Cyprus for four people. It’s been really, really good.”
“The family are going to put some money in to do it again next year, hopefully,” Cherise added.
